DDPG Educational Stipend Award

A. PURPOSE:

As a benefit of membership DDPG offers the opportunity to receive financial assistance to attend an educational event in the area of diabetes treatment or education.  An annual award of four educational stipends up to $650.00 each will be offered to DDPG members.  The awards are offered annually by lottery.

B. ELIGIBILITY: All active DDPG members except Awards Committee members, DDPG Chair, and DDPG Chair-elect.

C. AWARD CRITERIA:

  1. Applicants must be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (the Academy) and a DDPG member for at least two consecutive years.
  2. DDPG Committee Chairs and Executive Committee members are not eligible for the stipend.
  3. Educational programs must be targeted to the professional audience in the field of diabetes treatment or education.
  4. Verification of attendance is required.
  5. Winners attending FNCE or AADE are required to spend 1 hour at the DDPG member booth.
  6. Winners will receive a stipend to help cover travel, registration, and lodging expenses to a diabetes-related conference or educational event.
  7. Award winners will not be eligible the following year.

D. APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

  1. Complete enclosed application and mail to Awards Committee Chair at dce.awards@gmail.com. 
  2. Include a copy of the program, if available, unless applying for the Academy's FNCE, the American Diabetes Association, or American Association of Diabetes Educators national meetings.
  3. Applications will be reviewed by the Awards Committee and approved by the DDPG Academy's Practice Team Liaison.
  4. All applicants will be notified of their status by email. Winners will be notified by email and published in NewsFLASH. Education stipend winners will also be posted on the DDPG website, under the awards section, after all of the winners have been contacted. Reimbursement will be sent following receipt of travel, registration and lodging expenses, and conference attendance verification.
