Non-Medical Switching: What Healthcare Providers Can Do to Support Patients

This presentation will focus on non-medical switching. Non-medical switching refers to when a patient’s medication, treatment, or device is switched or dictated by an entity other than a healthcare professional, usually an insurance company. Thousands of patients are non-medically switched every year. A new study found that for patients who had been non-medically switched, 39% of them found that trying to get the medicine that their healthcare team prescribed was too difficult, and simply stopped taking their medication all together. This webinar will cover how healthcare providers can help mitigate the effects of non-medical switching and help patients cope when it happens to them.
