Is There An App for That? Navigating App Technology for People with Diabetes

Many people with diabetes utilize smartphone apps to improve communication with providers and caregivers, improve decision making support, potentially improve clinical outcomes, and reduce burnout. While the number of options of apps can be overwhelming, this webinar will help attendees narrow them down to find apps that are appropriate based on individual medical needs, health literacy levels, and user comfort level.

Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDE, FAADE is the owner and clinical director of Susan Weiner Nutrition, PLLC.  2018-2020. Susan was named the 2015 AADE Diabetes Educator of the Year and is an AADE fellow. She is the recipient of the 2018 Media Excellence Award from the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Susan’s is the “Diabetes in Real Life” column editor for Endocrine Today. She is also the co-author of "The Complete Diabetes Organizer: Your Guide to a Less Stressful and More Manageable Diabetes Life” and “Diabetes: 365 Tips for Living Well.

Susan is a well-respected national and international lecturer on a variety of topics related to nutrition, diabetes, wellness and health, and has authored dozens of articles in peer reviewed journals. She has authored and been cited in over 300 articles for popular press, consumer publications and online sites.

Jennifer Smith is the Director of Lifestyle and Nutrition at Integrated Diabetes Services. She has had extensive education in the intensive management of clients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. She is a writer and editor of the Think Like a Pancreas Blog – integrateddiabetes.com/blog. She is a contributor and has contributed to many publications including the JuiceBox Podcast Pro-Tip Series Educator with Scott Benner and Diabetic Living Magazine Fall 2019: “Are Carbs the Enemy?”. Volunteer/Mentor and Personal Accomplishments include co-authoring - Pregnancy with Type 1 Diabetes: Your Month-to-Month guide to Blood sugar management and completing the Disney Marathon in Orlando, 2014 and 2018.
