Homemade Salsa

Ingredients 

  • 6 cups of fresh or canned tomatoes (no salt added), chopped
  • 1/3 cup onions, chopped
  • 1/3 cup green bell peppers, chopped
  • 1/3 cup red bell peppers, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • cilantro, chopped, to taste
  • garlic, chopped, to taste
  • hot peppers or drained canned green chile peppers, to taste

Directions

  1. Place in a large bowl and mix together.
  2. Pour into a blender and blend on low until mixed.
  3. Serve cold.

Notes

Total fat may be slightly higher than the sum of individual fat totals due to rounding or lack of available information (some food items in the software do not have an indicated breakdown of mono- and polyunsaturated fats).

Sodium content will be much higher if canned tomatoes with added salt are used.

Serve with chips, but remember to account for carbohydrates in chip servings.
