Yoga for Diabetes Management

Abstract

The rising interest in recent years in the practice of yoga has facilitated subsequent inquiries about its potential as an adjunct therapy for disease prevention and treatment. Yoga has been studied for controlling symptoms and complications associated with type 2 diabetes. Results suggest yoga may play a role in managing diabetes. However, experts concur that more well-designed studies are needed to provide important insight into the role of yoga in diabetes management. Encouraging clients to start a yoga program may help improve their health and well-being. This article examines the effect of yoga on diabetes outcomes and describes how to talk with clients who express an interest in yoga.
