Request a Mentor

Are you a DCE member who is new to the field of diabetes medical nutrition therapy?

Have you wished for someone to talk with and ask questions, get advice, or discuss ideas?

If so, become involved with the DCE mentoring program!

The DCE mentoring program was initiated in 1996. The goal of the program is to 'match' mentees interested in gaining information with mentors who have more experience and expertise in the same area of interest. Some of the potential topics of discussion for a mentor and mentee may include:

  • Nutrition Counseling
  • Private Practice
  • Becoming a CDE
  • Networking
  • Gestational Diabetes
  • Pump Therapy
  • Cross-training in Diabetes Education

The time commitment to the mentoring relationship varies; mentees may have one or two specific questions, or may benefit from ongoing communication with the mentor. Mentees in the program are asked to:

  • Fill out an interest sheet for Mentor Program
  • Contact mentor after receiving initial information
  • Assume responsibility for long-distance phone calls
  • Maintain regular contact with mentor
  • Keep scheduled appointments
  • Have a purpose for each contact

or

Now you are able to fill out the Interest Sheets directly in your browser or Adobe Acrobat software. (See the above blue box.) If you do not already have Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat Reader version 6.0 or newer, you will need to download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the Adobe PDF Fillable Interest Sheets within your browser.
